Would a 10"/3,200 l/u stall Pat's Converter be OK with my TA-49? I want something that is streetable. Thanks.

That should spool like mad, a stock converter is plenty with a 49, I am running a PTS 3200 stall with a PTE 54 and the street manners are pretty good.

I always thought the stocker was OK, but both Pat's Converters and CK Performance recommend around a 3,200-3,400 stall.

many here use a page from a turbo buick buick or a website to select a convertor based on turbo size etc.we do real world testing.the 3400 will run that thing like the devil.and ,itll be a baby on the street with no boost.stall speed is directly related to engine torque and boost lbs.a 3.8 makes no torque without positive manifold pressure therefore a 3400 is a little more aggressive than stock with little or no boost.its been proven here on the board.ask around.do you want to go fast?follow the leader.

Would 3,400 be too much at the track since I only run DOT tires, not slicks? I'm afraid boost would come up so quick that I would not be able to get traction.

itll be fine.dont expect to run good numbers at the track with a car with a street suspension and not use a slick or drag radial.

Thanks. I use American Racer DOT that are real soft and hook better than drag radials I have had. I have boxed lca's and airbag, also.
