Was given this converter and was told it is a 9.5" 3200 stall ATI from Bill Anderson (for 200R4). I've never seen a converter with a ring installed on the back like this before. Just wondered if anyone can confirm that it is a ATI converter and if anyone see's a reason why I shouldn't give it a try in one of my cars.

Unless you know it is new or at least its history I would be afraid with out having it cut. No telling what is in there.

Trying to figure out if it is worth sending it out? I was told this was an expensive converter back in the day. My PTC probably weighs about 10lbs less.

Probably old tech but might be good for someone on a budget. Sounds to me like you are already ahead of it with a newer ptc piece.

With it being heavy, it sounds like a lock-up.

I would not use a converter unless you know it's history. Once contaminated, you can't really flush it without cutting it open. Cleaning it and making it like new will be around $250. There's no way of knowing what it's value is without looking inside as well.
