Hey Guys,

I have a 2004-R in my 73 Javelin, and the converter recently stopped locking up. I'm not really in a position where I can try and get it fixed right now, so, would there be any possible long term damage if I drive the car w/o the converter lock up function working?

Thx,

ubg

i had that problem in my last grand national, it ended up being the sensor on the brake pedal, it was out of adjustment so it thought i was ever so slightly pushing the brake and keeping the converter unlocked. im not sure if you can relate this solution to youre car, but if its a lockable converter that sensor has to still be in youre setup, or bypassed. hope this helps

As mentioned above, Brake Light Switch or TCC solenoid on bottom of pump.
You don't want to do much Highway driving with the converter not locking up. Can/Will cause overheating of the trans.
Pull up on your Brake pedal while driving & see if it TCC locks up.
