Today I went down to Jack Cotton's shop to pick up some parts, and on the way outta there, my tranny wouldn't shift into 2nd! Jack put my car on the lift and dropped the pan, and there was some metal shavings in there. He checked the gov springs, cables, and some other stuff, but still no luck. Im going to need a new torque converter. I had the "orange stripe" converter in, but it did not hold up that long, and I am going to need a new one. I don't wanna spend $750 for a precision converter, and I do not want to put in a red stripe or orange stripe since i've gone through two of them in only a few thousand miles. My combo is this:
pte-44, THDP, 40 lb injectors, Joe L chip.
Would the stock D-5 hold up longer then these "orange or red stripes" did? Last week before the TC went, I was runnin 12.5@107mph on 18 lbs of boost and a street chip. I don't plan on getting a bigger turbo anytime soon, and I just plan on running mid 11's. Would a stock D5 hold up? I just don't have the money to shell out for a converter right now... any ideas?
Thanks,

One of Bruce's Extreme 9/11 convertor's would probably work perfect. He may also have D5's available for less $$.

if you plan to run it hard it worth the extra to go ahead with the 9-11

im hard on my car and i went thru 2 stock d5's and then i got one of Bruces d5 converters and it held up fine but now i've stepped up and got a 9-11 and like it much better

got mine stalled to 2800 and it worked great with a 51 turbo

i dont think you'll find better quality anywhere else
