So I took a 9" LU converter I had picked up in to have it loosened up.
Local guy said come on back I'll cut it open in front of you we can see what it needs.
Bearings looked good but the fins were not welded or braised lock up surface was not true.
Said he could adjust the clearance on the stator and replace the lock up clutch my answer how much?
$225.00
Here are some pics of what he did before he welded it up balanced and painted it.
I was pretty happy brake boost to 2800 at 0 psi was 2400 before.
First pic is how the stator looked before he adjusted it.

That's what most call a ported stator. Very common and a fair price for the work he did. Looks nice.

Better yet, What the heck does the BUTT DYNO say!!!!! Looks awesome Larry, Darrel knows his shit!!!!:D

Chris if It stops raining I will let you know how it feels.....but preliminary tests appear very promising

Thanks for chiming in Dusty was hoping I would get an expert opinion. Value what you have to say with your experience.

Well Chris the butt dyno likes the change so far 400 rpm looser and the shift points seem about 400 sooner at WOT. Going to have to pull the weight I have on the governor off :p. The other converter I had in there appears to be a dog tight down low loose up top I could lock the old one at wide open but this one still feels stronger all way through.
