Just a couple of questions for you tranny gurus. My 87 GN has a PTC 9" n/lu convertor....stall is 3800.. My problem is the car refuses to stall up to 3800 at the line. So far the most I could build was 3-4# and the motor was definitely not being allowed to rev. Will the n/lu valve being installed incorrectly cause this or will it be limited just to the convertor not being right? Any help would be much appreciated so I can get this beast to run like she should.

Whos non lock valve you use? I doubt it is the valve tho. Not to in any way flame the converter co, but some combos react differently. They may have misjudged your combo. I am not ranking on them in any way shape or form but ,just call them and politely tell them of what it did in YOUR car. Now they have a point to work from. I know you do not want to hear this but as I was discussing with a customer today, that some combos are harder than others to dial in. Some take two or three to hit. Also, chip and motor tune in general has ALOT to do with it. If car is fat on bottom it can react that way. If o2 is bad it will effect. so ck all first then if to no avail, call TC co and relay to them what your findings and reactions in your car are, and they should work with you if presented properly. :D

Thanks for the reply Bruce. The n/lu valve is a Trans-go. As for the O2 counts etc, everything is pretty much where it should be. I had a leaky d/s header, but just replaced it with the ATR s/s header and xover, so no more leaks. That brought the O2's back to normal, but car still refuses to rev against the convertor, so I kinda figure that's the prob. The conv is kinda-sorta a prototype...PTC hasn't done many TR convertors other than a few custom jobs for a few folks. I just wanted to get a pro opinion on the n/lu valve possibility. Thanks again and when I get the money together I'll be ordering one of your 9/11 units.
