Practice and work + practice and work + practice and work = What you see. Those kids are that good because they worked for and earned it.
I love watching athletes who have put in the work to be outstanding. People don't comprehend what it takes to be really good at athletics. Yes there are some really talented players but before you see those all-stars in the Pros or Olympics on TV they've put in 10K hours of work and dedication.
In high school my son did not get involved with some of the other athletes who screwed around, got wild, got in trouble or damaged themselves. He would exercise, go to training lessons or go to the park to throw with a couple other serious athletes. He was the only one to be offered a full four year scholarship for any sport from his senior class.
These last couple of weeks in scrimmage fall baseball in St Louis he pitched 4 outings for a total of 7 innings. He had 18 K's, 1 walk (his best friend, hmmm...), 1 hit and 3 put outs at 1st. He's worked for 13 years and now he's seeing the payoff. He interviewed with the Blue Jays this last July at their Triple A team the Bisons in Buffalo, NY, the Tigers and Dodgers have called in August and asked to see him, the Astros, Marlins and Athletics have all approached him when he comes off the mound to find out who he is over the last 18 months when he's pitched in tournaments in Miami. He's earned it all.
I'm so proud of him.
