Coolant leak?

I seem to have a coolant leak coming somwhere from the rear of the of the motor.Any ideas?I checked around the water pump,thermostat,radiator and did'nt see anything.I noticed the drip coming off the oil pan if that helps any.

The leak could be coming from anywhere because while driving the coolant leak can be blown onto the oil pan. Keep checking and check for a blown headgasket leak. Look at the oil dipstick make sure it does not have coolant in it.

I thought I had a coolant leak and it turned out to be my radiator overflow tank. The engine torking caused it to bypass the cap. My radiator overfill tank is a small one due to alky injection. Keep looking. Brad

Check your heater valve. If the factory heat shield behind the turbo is still in place. You'll have to remove it to get a good look.

You might want to also check your freeze plugs on the engine block, mines leaked on the passenger-side rear, don't forget to check the ones on the trasmission side as well, replace them with brass plugs, good luck :smile:

+1 on the freeze plugs. these cars are getting pretty old and the freeze plugs are really starting to show up alot. anyways i ran rmi threw my coolant system and it took about a week to clean the system out so well it took all the corision off the freeze plugs and caused them to leak.

Yea I'm starting to pull things apart now.I'm leaning towards the heater core.When I shut the car off I can hear a bubbling sound from the heater core area.But I figure I'll go ahead and replace some of the trouble areas while I'm at it. Does anyone know where you can find a good reference book,haynes or something like that.I pretty good at taking things apart but can't always remember where they came from.Thanks for the help.

Try the GM stop leak pills. They work great stopping small leaks.

Well I found the nasty little leak.I was thinking it was the heater core but it ended up being one of the heater core hoses.I'm glad it was just hose,I've only had the car 3 weeks.

On another note where are the freeze plugs?Still new to the car so I don't know what I'm looking for.
