hey all, today i was using my car and noticed the temp creeping (was a hot day but was running alot warmer than usual on the gauge, i was about to get on the highway so i didnt let it bother me much.... the car cooled down with moderate driving... but when i got off i was in street driving conditions and the temp went to the line above 200 and 250 luckily i was at my garage and parked it but turned my key and no fans, i have the ramchargers dual fan setup which until today never gave me a problem... and i find it hard to believe that both fans couls have died at the same time, so i am believing there is a deeper problem like with some wiring. I have checked the harness on the fan side and it is tight (even disconected and reconnected) But didnt have time to trace it out.

Does anyone have the diagram for the wiring setup or a way of testing my fans to see if they did blow out (other than putting my stocker back in?)

any hep is appreciated.

Mike, don't be surprised if the both did die! If they get a little water on them, they're done. I had them both go on my car earlier this year. Luckily, I wired up a manual switch that works even if the relays die.

Mine smoked the fan relay. I now keep a spare in the glove box. Theyre not supposed to draw more current (Look at the wires..theyre tiny) but they do.

Back to your question about testing them.
Yes you can test them. Unplug the harness at the fans. There are three blades inside the connector. Look at which wires goes to each blade. Run the black wire to ground and connect positive power to either of the other blades, one at a time. This should run the fan for you.

ok i have found my problem here's the scenario

i pulled the plug and sent current directly to the fans and they turned on...

so i decided to go backwards, i get no power but i do get a ground on ALL 3 wires going to the harness (i have a short somewhere) traced out the wires (with the assistance of other members here) put a volt meter on the wire ends and it pass's no problem however i noticed a spot in both power wires where it grounded out the power (will be fixing that in the morning) but the wires still test clean. I am hoping since the Ramchargers fan jumps both the high and low relays i pop'd both of them at the same time so all i need to do is replace them both and be on my way. Does anyone know if it shorted if it would go farther than the relay or that would be the weakest line (so to speak)

thanks
