:( I've tried the rm125 with little success. It did not clean anything when used as directed. It appears that the circlulation is good when running with the cap open. I have new hoses and a 160 stat but it still runs 200 plus on a 90+ day in New Orleans. Any suggestions? I also have the rc duel fans.

oh shttt, didnt see that.are they hooked up,lol? you could also try running distilled water with the rm125. probablly time for a new rad. time for bed :D

I have the same problem i tried water wetter, RMI ect....
My car has the dual fans on high all the time and a stock radiator with the oil cooler still hooked up...
I think you might have to upgrade to the napa aluminum radiator to get the temp down, but heck its almost time for the weather to get cooler..

Mine would only get to about 196° when my R-12 ac was running full blast and sitting in traffic for 35 minutes on the way home....

Does yours run hot when the AC is shut off?

cooling

just my opinion but i had my stock radiator recored to a 3 row highflow and run external trans and oil coolers and also a huge help is straight water with water soluble oil. water is the best heat exchanger but alone will corrode your pump and radiator, thats were the oil comes in it is basically the same oil used in heavy cutting machines etc. and is added to lubricate the water pump and to protect against corrosion and the best part is it will lower temps 15-20 degree's. Im in los angeles and running on the freeway with dual fans and the 3 core i run at about 164, in stop and go it goes between 168/70 that is now with the heat we are having etc. good luck.

Nailhead - OK - you've peaked my interest. What are the ratios of the oil/water mix? Exactly what type of oil is it? Did you ever run this mix with a stock radiator? What were the gains (losses) when you re-recored? Thanks.

coolant

The product is called sta-lube or at www.crcindustries.com. basically it is soluble oil that is used for metal working and grinding but also for automotive use as it has excellent stability and retards rust and corrosion etc. the back gives the mixture rates for machining, grinding, and cooling systems and for the cooling systems it is 1oz for every 2 quarts so about 6-8oz and as stated water is the best heat exchanger but without a protectant our systems over time with begin to rust and corrode that is what this avoids, plus also the myth with antifreeze that it helps is BS, as it raises the boiling point of water from 212 to 268 or so  which by the time you realize your running hot it may be too late  . I would rather know sooner than later i have a heating issue and expecially with these cars as heat is a big killer. I also have 3 gs skylarks that i run this in and they all run nice and cool right at what the thermostate temp is set at.

:( It does come down some with the ac off but not enough to make a big difference. I thought this rm125 stuff was supposed to clean the system as you drive. What's the deal with the aluminum radiator as I want to keep the car as stock as possible.

cooling

the aluminum radiator with the water and soluble oil should keep your temps around 162/4 and on the track a friend with a couple of hot passes saw temps of only 170/172.

also the myth with antifreeze that it helps is BS
No real background in heat transfer, huh, Nailhead? The problem with pure water is that it boils too easily. When it boils, the resulting steam is a MISERABLE coolant. You will get steam blanketing, a resultant hot spot, and big old bad detonation! The bulk temp, as read by the temp sensors, may be much lower than you would expect to get boiling, but the whole engine is NOT at that temp, it is the "mixed" temperature of all the coolant that has been anywhere in the engine. So you make a compromise (heat transfer has lots of those) and use a coolant, like NPG, maybe, which isn't as good in some ways as pure water, but is better in other ways, like the boiling temp.
Ps, the myth that antifreeze DOESN'T help is pure BS.
