this for any HVAC guys . what would a canister(about the size of an average propane grill tank) filled with R12 be worth?

Maybe the demand has come down ,but 5yrs ago I sold a tank on Ebay for $600..
Dennis:)

You're gonna see the price R-134a sky rocket. Dupont has exclusive rights to it's manufacture and they cut production in half for this season.

a friend gave this to me for helping him out and theres no way I can use all of it. I still like to convert it to 134a

last 2 years or so in my state it has run $700-$900 per 30lb container.

if you would have stock piled a warehouse up 10-15 yrs ago you could retire by now selling the stuff.

there isn't much r-12 left, don't make it anymore that i know of.it's imported i heard.

not that hard to convert to 134.

Yeah, R-12 is imported (smuggled) a lot. IMO in a legacy system R-134A doesn't hardly cut it. For 1lb $30-50 is the going rate around here. I wish I had a warehouse of the stuff, at the very least a 500 gallon tank.

nicky its been a while so i do not know exact price, but you have a gold mine for an hvac person. Plus any more for r-12 you have to be cerified nationaly to buy or even handle it.

This is just what I seen, but when I worked for parts plus they were selling I believe it was 20 or 30 lb tanks (gas grill size tanks) for $999 and it was in a warehouse on the top pallet rack right by the window. Temptation no, not at all, espetionally with the prices its going for now... ;)
