What do I need to look @ in the VIN. # to assure me that an 85 Regal is a real T-Type? Also did they make any leather bench seat 85 Regal T -Type? Thanks--Lee

I don't know if any were built, but leather was an
option. I ordered a new 85 T and I pased on the
leather. As I remember the leather seats were
65/35, I ordered the 65/35 as an upgrade to the
bench seat. The 8th VIN # is 9, not like
the 86/87 which is 7. The 9 is the key to
the T Type. The GN was an option on the
T Type in 85. So, in 85 the GN was a T Type with
the GN trim option. HTH

Lee- I have your answer. I have a set of 1985 GM chassis service manuals. The VIN code for a Regal TTYPE for 1985 is a code 47. Here is an example with correct code in quotes: 1G4GK"47". The GM manual info has been verfied by my my VIN code and and my original window sticker from 1985. Good luck- Brad

The 8th character of the VIN should be the number 9 if its a hot air car. All Regal coupes are 47's. No leather bench. The only leather seats that I know of for the 85 Regal are the 45/45 like in the Limiteds.

Eric is correct. I did not read far enough in order to get the unique code number which identifies a clone. Brad

YEEEHAWWW!!! Lee Thompsons getting back into the hot air scene!!! Welcome back ol'buddy!!! :D

85 t-type

I bought the car and it is a real 85 T-Type.
Don't know what the original trim was as it has a Macco paint job (old one @ that). But it does have gray leather seat like the Limited. High console with column shift--Concert sound and moon roof. May CARRY it to BG to try and sell. Anyone interested. Keep in mind it needs LOTS of TLC but can be had cheap.

some

any rust?
is it the factory astroroof?

Rust is starting along the inside bottom of doors. I assume it is a factory roof. The sticker is still underside the trunk. What do I look for? I see it has the G80 rear. Where are you located? I can supply pics. I am waiting on a friend who has inquired about it. Will give him untill the first of next week. Thanks

I'm in st. louis. I'm not really concerned about the doors. I have 3 factory astroroof cars. I am more concerned about good solid quarters and inside the roof area around the roof pan and pillars being rust free.

Just took another look

It is a factory astroroof car. I plan on carrying it (hillbilly term) to BG and see if I can move it @ $2200.

i'm going to be there at least one day and one night. I'll have to hunt ya down and take a look
