Hello, I am new to the group. I am considering buying a 86 Regal T Turbo. As the title indicates there is a crack in the header panel and the front bumper fillers cracked. Has anyone experienced this before and can it be repair successfully ( is the old plastic now more brittle?) I don't see header panels available if can't be repaired.

Cracked bumper fillers are common if they are original. If original they cannot be permanently saved. New ones are available in fiberglass or the "soft" type like the originals. The header panel does not normally crack due to age, as far as I know. Repos might be available but you may have to fight with them to get a good fit. If the damage is not that extensive I would attempt a repair sooner than I would buy a repo. A member on this board (SPOOLFOOL2) makes a kick ass fiberglass bumper filler and has a header panel in the works I hear.

Thanks 626GN, i did view the video of the bumper fillers. It looks like good stuff, I see them on Ebay for less but don't want to spend bodyshop time on messing with fitment issues. The crack is about 2" or so on the header panel so should be fixed.. Hope its something that is done on the car instead of dismantling the front end.

Here's my experience one day a big fat chick who was blind also pulled out of a driveway and hit the front of my turbo t which made me insane crazy cause parts are hard to come by but her truck with it's plastic parts hit my metal bumper crushing it and my driver side bumper filler and after it was all said and done I rebuilt the whole front end myself because there was no damage to anything past the crushed bumper and filler so over the winter I documented it and the car is good as new and I spent a total of $150 in parts that I got off a fellow board member so list what you need in the parts wanted and I'm sure somebody will have what you need brother I wish I could show you before and after pics good luck...Chris

The header panel will be able to be fixed on the car unless it is a major crack most likely. I used Vette Panel Adhesive in the past with excellent results. It is a 2 part epoxy that has to be mixed together and it turns light gray. I got a pretty banged up header panel and ground out ( more like followed) each crack with a ball burr, mixed the paste and sanded when dry. Ebay bumper fillers are hit and miss , some dont fit well at the corner below the corner light, I had a fiberglass set and they stuck out past the bezel and the looked goofy. I got rid of those pretty quick. Some dont have the "nice" corners to match up to the fender with creating a "gap" look. Get the Highway Stars flexible one or Spool Fool's you cant go wrong with either and I have both.
