Well, it looks like I'm getting a Stage 2 from EA hopefully shipped some time this week. The trans shop quoted me ~$1840 for their build so I figured why not spend a little more and get a sure thing. The Stage 2 is overkill for my build but it's all he has in stock right now. May go ahead and get my Eaton posi installed too while it's in the shop and take care of the drivetrain all at once. I'll probably roll with the stock converter for a while unless a good deal for a 2800 stall comes up. Thanks all for your help.

**EDIT** Threw the budget out the window and ordered a Street Edge torque converter with a 2800 stall. I get a feeling this is going to be a completely different car after it's done.

Got the EA stage II and converter installed. I've had the chance to drive the car around for the past 2 days and am still getting used to the changes. I've been trying to break the trans in as instructed by driving the car in stop and go traffic. The shifts are really firm, but I'm starting to like it, especially when I stomp on it on the open road. There is one issue that I think is related to the high stall converter though, and that is exhaust drone. I didn't have it before, but I do now and it is really annoying after a while behind the wheel. It's like my cruising rpms (2200+)moved up in that area where the Pypes Race Pros are droning like crazy. They seemed so quiet before when cruising. In fact, the engine overall seems a little louder, even at idle. Is it just my imagination or is this normal?

UPDATE. I came across this thread searching for something else and thought I'd add some closure to it just in case it helps someone else. A few weeks after I got my car back, I ended up readjusting the TV cable from how it was set at the shop and that made all the difference. The transmission is awesome and shifts are firm and crisp. Cruising RPMS are now at ~1700-1900 rpms which made a big difference in the exhaust drone. Thanks again to Lonnie who really helped me out by getting the trans to me ASAP.

EXTREME AUTOMATICS is AWESOME ( In my WWE MIZ voice). Lonnie will stand behind ALL of his work. If your power level ever get to the point where you need a 400, he will give you a credit for the 200r4 towards the 400. That is STANDUP Business :). Hats off to a real business man...

Had my RJC downpipe and Pypes exhaust installed today and finally found out what was leaving those tiny drips in the garage. Apparently, the transmission case cracked due to a bad trans mount. It got worse after the exhaust install for some reason so I decided to have it checked out. When I first got the car a few months ago, I thought the trans pan just needed a new gasket since it was only 2 or three drops at the time. Boy was I wrong. This was/is bad news, but I knew trans work was coming down the road anyway. I told the shop owner I could order a new trans for him to put in, but he made me a decent* offer based on what I told him my 'goals' were power/torque wise. He quoted me $1600 total and said he would find a replacement case and put in 'hardened' parts, super servo, valve body, etc. Does this sound like a good deal? Also, what type of trans mount would you recommend to keep this from happening again?

*Decent compare to Extreme Automatics Stage 1 + options, shipping, and core charge.
I would not take a chance from someone unfamiliar with our cars ! I just went through a ordeal lasting a month. I broke my stage 1 after 2 years of service.Had the t type's original freshen up to install by a known good transmission guy, till I decided what to do with the broken one.was a good shifting transmission when I took it to him lasted 3 miles and burnt up now the fight on to get a refund to get it fixed right (just something to think about)

Id fear anyone who wants to swap your brf valve body. What "hardened" parts(stator support, Sun shell should be included in any build)?

If this "builder" doesn't have some references that can show you a solid product I would be steering clear. Do a search. Plenty of "but my guy sez he knows" that turned out poorly.
