My car started studdering a little when it kicked in to overdrive. I got to a stop light and shut it off and was not able to restart. I've got fuel pressure, swapped out the coil. So I'm trying to check the crank sensor. How do you check it out? I don't see how I can put the voltmeter on it without unhooking the pig tail. I read the thread about turning the engine over with a socket on the crankshaft, but specifically where do I get the signal from?
If it is bad, are the auto zone ones for $49 all right. Or can I take the one off of my 87?
thanks,

The directions for checking the crank sensor are above in the basic Hot-Air sticky.
The 87 crank sensor would work but it has a different connector.
A crank sensor from any auto parts store oughta work fine.HTH
