Outside air for the pcv to work comes in though the air pump while it's off?
 
I run both Moroso breathers under the intake to a T then to the evac pump. I run no breathers on my valve covers. Can't stand the smell of oil vapors inside the car. I still run the factory PCV valve with the RJC check valve inline.

Very nice clean set up. I noted this in another post of yours about fitting a big turbo
 
Vac pump # 12568382 is what I put on mine. I just check and air can flow backwards through pump...so no check valve in this one.

Will 5/8 i.d. hose to each valve cover be enough...or do I need a large hose? The inlet to the pump is 1"

I am also getting some oil in the vac pump....Do I need to get baffled grommets for the valve covers breathers ?
 
I'am in the process of doing this mod, I run stock valve covers and my thought was to use the P/S valve cover to the pump and just leave the breather in the drivers side, this way I should not have to modify the air pump . stock pcv with check valve also. Will this work ?
 
If you run a breather in the drivers side I think it would work fine. The stock filler is not a breather though. Probably makes sense to run some kind of oil separator there.
 
Thanks for the reply Pronto ! I have a breather on the drivers side . I forgot to mention that , I was reading a post on this and they were taking the pump apart a removing some foam and a check valve, not sure if I have to do this or not !!!
 
The LT1 pump has the foam in it and that cuts the vacuum pulled. Other pumps don't have that restriction.
 
I was going to use the racetronix wiring harness and they have three delphi pump options that are plug and play. Are u familiar with them? if so which which has no foam ?
 
The 2 wire ones. The 3 wire is the older design the so called LT1 pump. You can see the pumps and part numbers on the Racetronix webstore.
 
The system is up and running and it works great !!!! I used the wiring harness from racetronix and the second pump pictured on their site !! I used the stock PS valve cover setup to the pump and then to a catch can hidden out of site !! I run a breather on the drivers side and a stock PCV and check valve, One word of advise I had to use a 25amp fuse instead of the 20 amper supplied with the kit . If you don't look really close you can't see it and you would think I'am still running the stock breather into the turbo inlet . The pump is hidden by the KN filter , the catch can is hidden DS front fender just up from the air dam, and as you can see I used the stock breather set and metal tube !!! :)

Anyone using this without the air/oil separator on it? My setup is pretty much "race only". I do not run a standard PCV setup and have the pass side VC vented and the driver side VC hooked up to my VAC pump. I have been just leaving the VC's vented but I'm tired of the mess and would like to get a decent amount of vacuum on the crank case while I'm making a pass. Had anyone actually measured the amount of vacuum one of these 2 wire pumps pull with no filter in between?

Here is my setup currently. I haven't even wired it and may change things around a bit. (sorry this ones not a buick!)

Turbo LS 5.3 in a 79 rx-7.

I run two moroso oil separator breathers, one in each valve cover, into a tee then straight to the pump without a catch can. No pcv valve. Used it like that for over 4 years without any issues.

Anyone used a radar temp gun on their vac pumps? Tested mine this weekend and they get warm fast! I have mine set to come on at 1psi, but also have it on a switch. I like to run it on the initial startup as well. Seems to pull a lot of moisture/crap out at this time. Got up to 200* in about 4minutes. 220* in 5 minutes. Then I shut it off. Seemed like it was climbing pretty rapidly. Not sure what they are rated to temp wise. Anyone run theirs constantly with a temp reading? I’m sure 220* was fine, but I didn’t want to chance burning the pump up.
 
Mine stays cool, It never runs for more than 10 or so seconds at a time , I have it come on with boost only as I have no manual switch, I run the second pump in line on the racetronix sites pic's !!! System works great !!!
