Video speaks for itself...

I hate that they destroyed the Bel Air though..

50 year old metal, wonder how many times it may have been wrecked before this video?

What would happen if the new car hit a smart car and then pack the smart car into the trunk of the old bel-air for some testing?

The smart car would have been thrown clear of the scene :) Probably bounce right off.

I don't want to imagine what that would look like.

i'd like to see that same test redone with a mid 60's Impala with a perimeter frame instead of the "X" frame that car had. those "X" frames were notoriously weak in situations like that.

Actually the Smart Car has a damn strong frame. I saw pics of one that hit a guardrail at 70 and it was totaled but the cabin was fine. The owner bought another one and was very happy with it. Like the Indy cars, new cars crush all up but in ways that deflect the damage from the driver. The car might be totaled but you'll alive. The old cars will not look bad but the survial of the occupants was low.

:eek:I just do not know how someone could look at the '59 and say..."Let's destroy it!"
