I did the whole troubleshooting guide on Steve Woods' Vortex performance site and everything checks out but,the cruise control is still trying to kill me! When I turn the cruise on and hit the "Set" button, the pedal drops to the floor (engage ludicrous speed  ) until I either hit the brake pedal or turn the cruise off. Anyone seen this before? Think it's the module? Maybe the accelerate switch in the stalk?

Anyone in Northern NJ have a known good module?

mine did that once, it was a bad vacuum actuator...

Mine did that--& even worse,,,it did NOT disengage even when I turned it off...fortunately hitting the brake did disengage crazy-criuse...

I replaced electronic module under dash--did not cure (I have known/tested good used one available now for $40)...Next replaced suspected bad stalk= NO CURE either (later sold new stalk not needed)...FINALLY, replaced the under-hood electronics/ vacuum control for diaphragm actuator & wallah--cruise then worked...

I still have a spare under-hood setup--but one of the plastic fittings/tips where vac line connects is broken off...I suspect the rest could be transferred to your part where vac hoses connect--unless yours is bad/broken there too??

I may try replacing the servo under the hood. Autozone has a reman for 85$. Lemme try that! Rock Auto has an AC delco for $275

As I best recall, I got my genuine used, good GM under-hood cruise control stuff from Intercooled88s here on this board--something like $25 plus shpg...I'm sure he still has another unit available for $$...

Cruise not working...look at vacumn....cruise taking off wide open throttle , not a lack of vacumn...to to keep facts clear....

When you're right, you're right. I stuck the vacuum line back on the leaky EGR module, took the car for a drive, and the cruise control was still working. Took the vacuum line back off and capped it, and the cruise was still working. I have no idea how/why the cruise control magically fixed itself yesterday - I've been doing a lot of work on the car, so maybe I bumped something. Who knows? But, I can't attribute fixing it to the removing the leaky EGR solenoid.

Thought that was too easy.
