Cruise control stopped working

I was driving the other day and noticed the green "cruise" light was on all the time, and it seemed to get brighter when I stepped on the brakes. I turned the cruise switch on the turn signal lever to "off" and the cruise light went off, turned it back to on and the cruise light came back on. now the cruise doesn't work at all, no "cruise" light on the dash either.

I worked last week just fine, now nothing.

I just put the engine back in 2 weeks ago, the cruise worked the first week after the engine went back in.

I'm thinking it's the cruise control module under the dash as that is the only thing that turns the cruise light on.

Planning to go to a big car show in Grand Forks (Rydell Chev) in Sept and it a 2 and half hour drive on the highway (and leaving the country) so I would really like to get it working by then.

I would start by checking the two brake switches that contact the brake pedal.

One has vacuum control and one is electrical, both need to be properly adjusted for it to work.

Next test would be the stalk switch wiring for On/Off and Engage/Resume.

There should be a diagram around for the wiring from the stalk wires into the module itself.
