My 87 GN has cruise control, the light will come on the dash for it, no fuses blown? And the servo unit under the hood seems to have vacuum on it? What would I diagnose to see why it doesn't work? I've tried turning it on at 55 and 65 but still no worky?:)

There are a few things that can go bad on the GN cruise system. i'd start with the switch itself and work from there. the switch is available on ebay normally for about $25 bucks, everything else is way more expensive.

My light also comes on but nothing happens.

I would think that if the light comes on the stalk is working, but something else isn't doing it's job...I just haven't figured out what that is yet.

Any ideas??

check the brake light switch

Your answer most likely lies here.... there are at least 2 (maybe 3!) brake switches under the pedal... the one with the vac hoses to it controls the cruise... make sure it's adjusted correctly and working right....

Module

I had the same problem with my curise control. I checked everything as you did. There is a module (black box)on the steering column under the dash. It has a harness hooked to it maybe 9 wires. When you push your button in on the column in send a signal to the module. I would bet this is your problem. Junk yard part. If you have trouble locating one I may have an extra.

My guess would be the vaccum part of the brake switch.

There is an electrical as well as a vacuum cutout switch on the brake pedal.

Just make sure the switch with the big black hose on it is making contact with the plunger when the pedal is UP in non-brake mode ie. driving cruise mode.

Usually it will get misadjusted and no vacuum no cruise.
