cruising rpm ques.

Got the factory Tach in the '86 "working" last night.( Tach wire and fuel pump jumper were plugged together and one of the tach wires was cut/freyed inhalf).Now that i have a better clue as to what rpm this thing turns i was curious if the rpms are in normal range
35mph-still in third around 2000 rpm
45mph- around 2400-2600 rpm
65mph-highway 2700-2800 rpm

around town speeds (50mph and slower)seem about right but the highway speeds the rpm seems a little high like maybe the converter isnt locking up.
i dont know exactly what to expect from the car.
what do your cars do?

First of all don't even look at the fatory tach, it's usless.
