Personally I think they are AWESOME....only problem is they are Chevy powered :( But they respond very well to upgrades, just like your TR's do.

As far as the trucks I love them! You think about it you can have one to serve each purpose, Typhoon to hall the family around, Syclone to hall multch around :D I almost purchased a Syclone before I bought the GN, still might get one in time.

You really need to drive one to appreciate them. They feel quicker then they are for some reason. I bought a 93 new and have 17k miles on it. I have thought about selling it a few times but each time I drive it I change my mind. My typhoon beat my viper up to about 45 mph then the dodge drove by so they are very quick up to 40 to 50 mph. Plus in the rain you can beat almost any car out there.

I agree 100% with rtviper. I bought my Ty new and now have 113K on it. I love my 87 Buick, and it will obviously cream the Ty, but the Ty is just different. It does feel faster than it is because of the low end torque. Of course the Buick can't keep up in the rain. And I also sometimes tell myself I should sell it but can't because it's too much fun to drive.

The only down side is that there is no room under the hood and therefore is hard to work on.

Well--i guess i have a different opinion than everyone else but i have owned one of each(sy and a ty)---i was not impressed at all. After the initial launch, they felt very slow to me---my TR feels much stronger. The AWD just felt heavy to me.They also got very poor fuel economy.
Different strokes for different folks i guess.

I love them, and of coarse on the low end these trucks are bats out of hell, but after 60mph they become bricks.

Don't compare them with TRs, but they are fun to drive, it comes out of the whole like a bat out of hell then around 45-50 mph,it falls on its face. As far as I am concerned, it is best SUV out there if you want to have fun with it. Buy it, do few minor mods and leave it alone. I was told that the rods and pistons aren't as strong to push it hard. You want something that runs had at all levels, stay with the TRs.

Just like anything else, if it's not tuned right, you won't be impressed. My TY was stock except for a chip, filter, and bigger IC pump. It ran 13.20's all day with 1.75 60's on plain ole street tires (Kumho). On the street, there wasn't much that could mess with it stoplight to stoplight. I did have video on my site with me spankin a caged mustang on DR's because I jumped out so quick, he freaked out and caught some tirespin.
Launching with 9psi boost on the street with not even a hint of wheelspin was very fun. I love my TR's, but I also love the SY/TY's and wish I still had mine.

Cool to drive, but about as much fun to work on as a Fiero.
I have worked on quite a few of them and from a mechanical stand point they require a lot of patience and choice words.
Try swapping a cam on one with the motor in the truck. That was probably one of my favorites.....among others.

You're right about that. I have scars on the knuckles to proove it. Changing the plugs through the wheelwells is always fun. That's a big reason I went back to a TR is that they are much easier to work on.

I have both.

Peronally a bigger syty fan than buick, although they are different animals.

For all around fun, with the AWD it is hard to beat.

As far as hard to work on, all depends on how many times you have done it.

I actually enjoy working on them now. Of course I know every nut bolt, size wrench, and have a selection of custom wrenches.

The top end dieing off, if mainly due to the small stock turbo. Stick a 20g or bigger, and the top end opens up. Not like a buick but 10x better than stock.

If i had the money i'd have a tr and a syclone, probably a typhoon too:D

awd and a bigger engine just makes sence. at the track its not going to keep up with a tr(i'm not saying that some can't), there just not made for that. i've heard they handle very well, and traction isnt' a problem, so on the street especially for a daily driver it only makes sence.

I love mine! Stock it was kind of a tird after 50 or so but launched hard enough to roll your eyes back into your head.I have since upgraded the turbo and some other items. I am just waiting to find the right GN or TR for me and my wife.I have always wanted one. My wife loves t-top cars (misses my 97 ss) and she likes the look of the GN's.I am not sure how fast it is (have not made it to the track yet)but feels much faster than it was stock.
