I am a student at NTI and I have a guy wanting some work done on his 99 buick regal sc. I haven't looked at the car yet, but I have a basic symptom for you guys to diagnose. He is stating that the car sputters badly all of the time. Im thinking intake/sc gaskets? Any recalls on parts like for the 3100? Let me know fellas! Anything helps.

I would start by looking at plugs ,wires ,condition of coil terminals ,looking for vacuum leaks etc..

sc gaskets dont usually fail , when LIM gaskets fail you can usually see coolant around the bolts or oil mixing with coolant

90+% of the time clean coil terminals , new delco wires ,a set of autolite 104 plugs, fresh delco fuel filter , and the premium fuel that is recommended in the gas door and you have a good running mid to high 14 second car that will pull 30 mpg highway

Coil packs would be my fist guess. Probably got one of the 3 going hinky.

How many miles on her? These engines are pretty much bullet proof. But if it's over 80k, and the coil packs have never een changed, it wouldn't be a bad idea regardless.
