what would having a d-6 convertor in your car do for performance and what if i went with a 2800 or 3000 pats convertor. today i took off dust shield and noticed a d-6 convertor i can only get 4 pounds of boost brake boosting it. second i unhooked my cam sensor and it runs alot better i still vave the original fuel pump in it and it seems to flatten out on topend is this fuel starvation?

thanks but how will it differ in all around performance i have no bottom end power till 30 mph then it will break tires loose

Just going from the low stall D6 to the D5 will be a night and day difference. Much less going to a Pats 2600-2800 stall converter. For sure get that convertor changed.

Possibly(this could also be lots of things - ignition, injectors, chip, exhaust, etc.) and I would highly recommend that you invest in a Walbro Gs340 pump, adjustable reg. and a hot wire kit ASAP. The factory setup wasn't great to begin with. A scan tool of some sort would also be good if you don't have one.

Since unplugging the cam sensor helps you some, you may also want to have it checked and set, or it may be going bad or have a loose reluctor ring.

What, if any, mods have you done to your car? Recent tune up maybe?

D6 is no good for our cars. I have seen them perform at the track....It was sad.

Just my .02

Mine had a D6 in it as well when I first bought it and it was weak as water coming off the line. Wouldn't even break the tires loose or build any boost off the line until it got rolling. Finally pulled the cover and found it had the wrong converter. Installed a 2800 stall and it became a completely different car.

Dont know about the turbo buicks, but behind any v8 the D6 stalls at a whooping 1800 even. Which is still too low to do anything special.
