Has anyone ever seen a D5 converter in a 700/4L60E application. Actually it is from a 94 Caprice that an older lady brought in for a rebuild. It had near 80,000 miles and she is the original owner of the car. We are the first to touch the car. The car is setup like a cop car. 8.5" differential with 3.73 gears, posi, dual exhaust, LT1. Nothing like the Caprice with the 7 5/8"-2.73 geared, throttle body cars. This car was in excellent condition, hell even the fluid in the converter is still red. She just wanted it rebuilt before something happened. I saved the converter in case I wanted to rebuild it later and have a 2800 made out of it.

their is a white tag that has a # on it that shows tthe stator.my convertor guys says the d5 means nothing to him its the stator thats the real issue

Chris, it's too late to look at the trunk. The way the car ran, I could swear it was just like a TR converter. The 4 digit tag was gone off the converter, but the car ran like it had a 2500 stall. I think you are right Chris. The lugs are the round with the continuous weld where my actual TR converters have the rectangle lugs with the weld on 3 sides. Maybe I'll have it cut open someday and see what is inside.:D

youll probably find a 14 blade stator in there .keep it as they are harder and harder to come by .
