i have a almost new 2800 stall conv removed from a friends car with less that 300 miles (he upgraded turbo and stall)my question is would this be a nice up grade to go with a ta49 blue tops and tt chip and alkky? also i dont know who makes this converter does it matter ? would this make a noticeable difference? thanks for any input gil:biggrin:

If you can get it cheap enough and you know the history it'd be a good upgrade for the money. I am assuming it is a stock diameter converter that has been restalled. I put one in mine and for the money I spent (got it at cost through my employer at the time) it was an ok deal, but I'm not sure it's worth the $300+ to buy one outright, unless you have NO plans to go bigger in the future. There is a difference when stalling it up on the footbrake but driving around town it feels the same to me.

yes its a stock diam.i got it free for some work i did  just wondering if its worth the work to put it on:biggrin:

if you don't want to try it ..send it to me I'll try it out for you

I have the exact same combo and upgraded to a ProTorque 2800 stall convertor alittle over a year ago (bought through CK Performance/ Chris) when I had my tranny rebuilt. You will notice a slight seat of the pants difference over the stock D5 when on it, otherwise feels about the same in normal driving. I don't have any time slips to share with you though.... :frown: I'd put it on if I were you and assured that the unit is sound especially since the price was right!

well i guess is going in  i just dont know when i have been swamped with work lately but will get back to you fellas thanks for all input:biggrin:

I could have sworn my stock D5 was stalling at 5psi and 2700-2800rpm on the foot brake as is.

It's been a long time but I was pretty sure the GN's got the highest stalling 12" out there over the Vettes and Cutlass cars.

What are you guys seeing with the stocker that putting in a 2800 D5 would improve??

My stocker stalled 2400 on the foot brake. The restalled d5 will do 2800. gets there just a hair quicker also. If it was at a track on sticky tires, I could see a little better 60 foot time.

Is It Worth putting In a 2800 ???????????

since no one has answered your question, i will put my 2 cents in.

I think you would see ET gains since you would be able to leave with more boost, which would lower your 60' which would lower your ET
