My engine/ transmission build is coming together soon, and I have read the following quote from another posting and require clarification.

"I am told that being under mild boost without being at WOT can kill the trans."

Can someone explain the how, what, when this could occur? and how to reduce the possibilities?

Many thanks,
Jim

I think you are refering to the importance of proper TV cable adjustment, which is connected at the throttle body linkage and goes to the transmission, it's function is to raise line pressures in accordance to throttle input, if adjusted incorrectly the transmission will seem to shift a little early and soft or sluggish to respond, which if driven this way during high torque production(even at partial throttle/low boost) will most certainly damage the clutches and band, always adjust cable to factory specifications as this method is "standard" among transmission suppliers and will provide adequate line pressure rise, if you adjust it too tightly it will be a little firm or possibly even harsh shifts but will do no harm, then can be "trimmed" by backing off a few "clicks" of cable adjuster..but only a few to get where your trans is happiest, and your wallet.
Good luck.

Kevin.

yeah and high load from a car making boost open the throttle all the way !!! Need that line pressure in the trans so it does not start slipping
