My son called me today at work and informed me someone broke into the garage where we had been working on his Mustang and stole all of my tools........over $2000 worth of tools are gone. Air compressor, air tools, wrenches, sockets, hammers, jacks and jack stand, my chain for the engine hoist, drills, grinder, tool boxes.....they took it all!!!!!!! I am so pissed right now. I had planned on completing my engine install this weekend and now this happened............I'm beside myself on what to do. They even stole his radiator out of his Mustang............a police report has been filed and I went by the local pawn shops today looking around. Nothing yet.

i hate thieves as well. i think they should all be shoot on spot

Sounds like an inside job and with what they stole, they had alot of time to load the truck. Were they able to drive a truck into the garage, be out of sight and load everything?

man, some druggies just moved into my neighborhood. they have all kinds of people i don't care have anywhere around. haven't been here a full week and they have stolen a generator and a pressure washer from from 2 differnent people right across the street. the cops came, they ran, but did caught and go to jail. that got rid of a few of them. then,i pulled in at 2am last night, that's when i take the gn out for ride and tune, one of them came over asking me for a cigarette and water, then tried to sell me ice or some other dope. um, that guy got of out of my sight. he was walking down the street today and when i came out, he disappeared- i wish they would all disappear.

getting robbed is no fun. when you check the pawn shop, remember that they have to wait thirty days to put stuff out. and that they don't want to help you with stolen stuff they have bought, because then they are out the money. -that has been my experience. had my paint guns stolen and pawned before. i was "in the market for a pro gun" and he had some that he still had to wait before he could sell- bingo, he bought my stolen guns from some crackhead. i got them back, but he wasn't happy losing the $75 he gave for my $600 sata.

Gotta be some fingerprints on that Mustangs hood ( if it was closed etc ) or around the radiator support too.

I hope you can at least get some insurance on it??

Isn't it required these days for pawn shops to run serial numbers to see if an item up for pawn is stolen? Or is that only done by some pawn shops that dont want to deal with stolen merchandise?

one of the owners did tell me that the police came by every week to pick up the information of the stuff they had recently got. but every state probably has different pawn laws. i recovered my stuff back in '94, and that pawn owner was no choir boy.

Sad to hear. We should cut off their hands like they do in saudia arabia and atleast we would all know who the theives are-you might even be saving their lives cause they wont be able to shoot up or smoke dope!

No disrespect to your son, but maybe some of his friends or friends of friends were involved. Crimes like that are almost never random. You were "scoped out" before the crime occured.

It was definitely somebody local. My son had been going out there for the last 4 nights straight to work on his car, the one night he didn't go out it was broken into. So yeah, they were definitely watching. The tools totaled up to be around $4500 after we sat down and added them all up at replacement cost. I have a $1000 deductible and State Farm insurance. The nice thing, my brother told me that the guy up the street is an ex felon and he just moved into the area and is jobless, hmmmmm I went out this morning looking for clues and I found what appeared to be a "walking" path from his property area right into behind the garage. This is my mom's house and it is in the country and sits on 5 acres of land, no one lives there at the moment and it is vacant. This guy next 2 us is about the same setup, but it's his moms house he lives with her.......it's really dark and really quiet out there at night, so I'm thinking he broke into in broad daylight. We're buying a surveillance camera to install today.........and the cops, they wouldn't even come out to the actual scene of the crime!!!! They just ook all of the info over the phone, what a joke!

Has to be a typo...id say prolly 20,000 and thats not hard to add up all your stuff you mentioned.

sorry to hear man

he probably bought all his stuff at arborfreight tool, if that is the case is not a typo and what he lost was worth about 2k  , on another note sorry to hear about your loss man, damn thieves are getting bold, hard times call for hardcore thieves.

Don’t know about your state but in NY you can pay a fee and have a law enforcement officer come over and collect Finger prints and have them run through the system. Try that.

90% of the time it's "friend" or a friend of a friend.

Actually, the majority of the tools were from Craftsman and Autozone. State Farm just called this morning and the guy said "Well, sears should have records of your purchases". I replied and laughed, "Geesh, didn't know they tracked their tool purchases from flea markets and yard sales" He laughed and said he understood........anyway, State Farm is going to depreciate the tools and then write me a check for any amount over $1000. Then, if I go to buy a tool and it is more than what they gave me. I turn in the receipt and they will reimburse me for the difference, not too bad I guess.......they refused to pay for my son's radiator that was stolen though........

That there made my day. Half of my Craftsmen tools I bought when I was a teenager. I'd like to see them pull up records from 30 years ago.

I made a video of my house and my contents just for this reason. I even video taped somebody elses tool box just so I could pad the claim if they ever got stolen. IIRC there's some fine print on how much I can actually claim for them though.

we will find them. and when we do i hope the cops find them before we do. we will denut the pricks hang them up side. and let them bleed out slowly!
