We have tested alot of the the ITS units. They are awesome units and spool very fast. But what they offer in the DBB world that other companies don't is they can be rebuilt. Others have to be thrown away.

As for shaft size, they are the same as the others...all are 312's. T-netics is only a single BB unit, so its not in the same category.

but what is the new super duplex system?

how does it work? What compents are in the system? Is it or why is it better then normal dual ball bearing? ect ect ect. Anyone?

New bearing technology....in a nutshell. :)

They have the best ball bearings right now in the US market.

Email Rick Head there and ask him about the new stuff.

They actually answer the questions you ask them. :p

Might take a couple of days but you should get a reply.

Just like buying a first year car model it's always better to let the technology prove itself out in the field for a year before buying regardless of manufacturer.

That's my .02 anyway. :)

My guess would be a duplex ball bearing setup is 2 ball bearing units stacked together at each end of the shaft. Very similar to some wheel bearing setups. It will increase axial load capability and take on thrust load better than a single bearing arrangement. It might be possible to eliminate thrust plates if the dual bearing arrangement can handle the thrust load well enough. No thrust plate = much less friction.

Rick Head is no longer with Innovative Turbo Systems.
From what I heard he is starting Exile Turbo Systems.
I don't have any specifics right now.

thanks don! This is exactly the kind of information i was looking for.

Unfortunitly this wasn't the kind of information i wasn' looking forward too. I have heard great things about Rick Head and Innovative Turbos, I'm sorry to hear that he is no longer working there. I wonder what happened

thanks for the heads up! Thanks John

Just in case you missed this page, it's a little more detailed.

"Simi Valley, CA (August 23, 2005) - Innovative Turbo Systems® announced today the development of their new patent pending "Super Duplex" Dual Ball Bearing Technology.

The Super Duplex bearing system is provided for use in high speed rotating machinery such as a turbocharger, wherein a turbocharger rotor-group supported by a pair of angular contact bearings subjected to radial and a predetermined and substantially constant thrust pre-load. The angular contact bearings are carried respectively within a pair of cylindrical bearing sleeves that cooperatively define an axially split bearing carrier mounted within a center housing. A pre-load element and a hydraulic load react between these bearing sleeves for applying a substantially constant axial thrust pre-load transmitted by the bearing carriers to the angular contact bearings.

The Super Duplex bearing system, scheduled to be released 3rd quarter of 2006, is highly anticipated in the turbocharger industry as the first in a string of new technologies from Innovative Turbo Systems.

The Super Duplex Bearing System significantly improves bearing life, operational stability, and adaptation to thermal growth of turbocharger components during transient system operation.

"The Super Duplex Bearing system is cutting-edge turbo-machinery technology," says Robert McKeirnan, Vice President of Engineering, Innovative Turbo Systems®. "Innovative built its reputation by leading the industry, this new technology continues that tradition."

"This bearing system will serve as the foundation for several complimentary technologies and will ensure Innovative´s continued success," says Ola Lysenstoen, we are very exited about the "Super Duplex." We expect to be shipping turbo products containing the Super Duplex technology during 3rd quarter 2006. "

I can wait a year or two for the new BB's to be proven in Buicks. ;)

well all i gotta say is....

i hope it can out perform a pt-67BBgtq(bigshaft) Hope I got all those ID numbers right theres so many  But yea hope it can! I'm ever so close to getting a new turbo.
