Louie L ,I think it has more to do with what type of thrust retainer is used such as a thrust plate or roller button and not core dia . as far as I know the two cams are machined differently on the front depending on if a thrust plate or button is to be used . but , don't quote me on it .
Ah ok didnt know that. Mine is a custom cam from Comp.I couldnt a roller thrust to work and ended with a solid button which i "tuned" lol for the right clearance. This was on my Dart Little M. It was cut on a -12 prefix cam core.

Well I found out both the retro fit cam and the OE factory style cam can be used in the Dart SHP block . only difference being that you use a button with the Retro fit cam and a thrust plate with the OE Factory style cam . also both types of roller lifters can be used as well , the OE type and the link bar type . The only thing being is if you use the link bar type they must be the ones that are 0.300" taller as opposed to the retro type roller lifters . I have been told the OE factory type roller lifters are limited in RPM (6000rpm) and cam lift (.600") . How true this is I'm not sure . maybe a SBC V8 guru will step in and let us know .
