Is there any way to set up day time running lights on the 87 GN's? Thxs.

I'm sure you could wire a jumper from ignition power to the low beam relay.

Please don't do the high beams like GM did. From what I'm told, they supplied 6 volts to the high beams. But they are still annoyingly bright, prolly because they are aimed at oncoming traffic.

Bah. Every car has stupid DRL's now anyway, so it doesn't make any car more noticeable. That only worked when a few cars had it.
But if ya want it - wire the low-beam (or hi-beam if you want to tick people off) relay to something that's always on when the car is on.

On my motorcycle I ride around with the bright on during the day. Sure it pisses people off. But if they're pissed off, it means THEY SAW ME which is all I care about on the bike..

Why would anyone want DRLs on anything with more than 2 wheels?
They're for morons...only GM would endorse such a stupid idea...visit the National Motorists Association (www.motorists.org) for information on why DRLs are ineffective and dangerous.
Jeff

Just remember that even if they see you on a bike, and are pissed off, doesn't mean they won't cut you off intentionally if you try to go flying past them. I love bikes and do ride, but would NEVER ride with the high beam on.

FWIW, they might make you more at risk in certain conditions for a head on accident. Might read up some on visual stealth technology.

I can handle being cut off intentionally. I've been street riding daily for years and can brake damn good. (for those of you who don't ride - braking is a skill on a motorcycle, it's not like a car where you just stand on the pedal) I'll take 10 of those intentional cut-offs a day if it means I don't get hit by some guy who doesn't see me.

Being hit by a car HURTS. Even been nailed?

When I went through motorcycle safety school they told us to run with the high beams on. I honestly don't think it made a bit of difference but I am a sheep so I did what the rest of the flock was doing......

As with DRL's people who are paying attention to the world around them will see you whether you are on a cycle or in a truck and whether you have all your lights on or none.

It is the ones who are on their cell phones and other crap like that that won't see you even if you have a flashing light on top of the car.

by the way i read the article and NMA doesnt condone DRL that are set on the high beam setting which apparently GM has been doing. i think that is the issue here not DRL in general.

hey man, GM# for a day time running light modual is 12370445. This will work the same as the mod they use as OE. Although it's pricey. For what it's worth i would wire up a relay, or just turn on your dang lights:cool:

Why dont you just turn on your headlights? Everytime Im in the car I turn on my headlights.....day or night. Its just become sort of a habit I guess. Just my .02

no $hit, just turn on your lights. I mean why would you want day time running lights, most people I know disconnect them. and especially when you want your lights off, those babies are on and they stay on. Not cool

Hi lalonde,
I spent some time in Canada when I was a truck driver and I noticed that most if not all the cars were running DRL. Is this manditory in Canada or do all the Canadion models come with DRL, I was just curious.

I like the look of the newer camaros and corevettes w/ just the parking lights on. Just my .02 worth.
