Anyone got tips? I worked on my D12 wire for 20 minutes (until my back gave out) with a MetriPak tool and couldn't get it out. That wire is either cracked or the terminal is loose, it occasionally looses contact and sets off the CEL...

You need a dental pick, not a weatherpack tool. Remove the secondary locking comb from the rear of the connector, insert the tool into the small square hole at the face of the connector. Then you simply bend the locking tab inwards, and the terminal and wire will slip out of the back of the connector.

I simplified this, but one you have removed a few of these terminals, it gets way easier.

EDIT: I got tree'd by John Spina himself, what are the odds?! But I'll leave the post anyways.

Man you are jogging the memory there!

I had to unpin and re-pin ALL of my ecm connectors a few years back. I have some leftover pins but they are not here at the house. If you are patient I might be able to get you a pic of the bare terminal for unpinning reference and/or a part number for the new pin that you'll probably need. If no one else responds you'll have to wait a day or so, I guess. I don't even remember if they come out the front or back of the connector.

I don't have a dental pick and the business end of my MP tool is smaller than any screwdriver I've ever seen. Maybe if I sharpen the end? John, I could feel the tang in the outer hole, but couldn't get it to move inwards and was afraid to bust it. Whenever my back recovers, I'll try again...

Thanks to All!

The more I think about it, the more I think that I used a paperclip that I ground a flat tip on with the bench grinder. I know I made that for something really small and I still have it.

added the video to my favs.
thanks for this thread as i will be replacing both ECM plugs in the next few weeks.
