The Hughes Pan is a 'very' thick & strong piece. The Cast type Pans add strength/rigidity to the Trans case/housing more so than the Sheet metal type pans.
Only downside to a Cast pan is it doesn't bend like a Sheet metal Pan, Cast will crack if it takes a hard lick. Not a problem with sufficient ground clearance.

I did notice that the gasket is not cork. Is anyone using any type of RTV when installing the pan. I hope Nick will chime in on this one.

Use the gasket dry, HOWEVER, be sure to use a sealer, like teflon pipe sealer, on the 2 bolts that hold the shift bracket in place.

These 2 go into the case, and fluid tends to leak through the allen head bolts, where the original bolts would seal ok.

I just bolted on a hughes pan, it comes with the 700 filter plug and play....

Are you still running a stock shifter? if so did you have to mod your shifter cable brackets since that pan is thicker than stock?

Just got my pan from Kirbans and its a beefy pan. Cant wait to get my conv and trans back and get it all in.

oops almost forgot you will have to insulate the top of the pressure switch to prevent contact with the metal rim on the filter.

and how would one go about doing this?
also how do i know if i have to grind the (spacer) bumps in the bottom pan to fit the 700 filter correctly? (referring to the hughes cast pan)

There's Info here about contact with the 4th Pr. switch. THM 200-4R 3/4 way down Pg.
Moving the Filter Spring Clip and/or Heat Shrink can be used.

If it takes much pressure to push the Pan down the Filter is getting crushed and will eventually crack somewhere, which will cause problems.
Other methods are used, trimming the Signal oil Pipe & Filter neck for Pan & Valvebody clearance.

I installed one of these on a T and it`s a nice piece. Best for the 200`s I have seen.

Well once Canada post got back to work I got my new pan!

Its a real nice looking unit can't wait to get it installed and the new poly trans mount....... the offshore peices last for a couple hits and then poof!
