Saw the show last night from the 4th row, Joe rocked the house and never missed a note, dam he can play.
Deep Purple sounded great, even minus Blackmore on guitar and Jon Lords on the keys, instead they had Steve Morse on guitar, he's been around and can rock. Gillians voice was awesome, just like 20 or 30 years ago! Althought Gillian wore his PJ's out on stage and was barefoot for the show :D

Big Satriani fan here. Saw him on G3 tour 5 years ago with Steve Vai + Kenny Wayne Shepard. Good time.

Deep Purple without Jon Lord or Ritchie Blackmore?? That's not Deep Purple!:D First concert I ever went to back in 197?!

All the other guys there were original members??? Ian Paice, Ian Gilliam, Roger Glover??

Yep all others were the original 3. I was very disappointed that Blackmore was not there also, but Steve Morse is a great player as well, at least they didn't replace him with a nobody.

Machine Head changed my life when I was kid..... and then Satch changed my life when I was playing guitar. Him (...and Yngwie) made me realize I would NEVER really play! I bought the first Satch album for $3 in an "unknown" bin. I told everyone about the guy and no one wanted to know anything. I think he proved them wrong.

I was so disappointed I missed them at Jones Beach in NY.

Gotta agree with Mark H..... Blackmore was my idol; Purple isn't the same without him. Although I LOVED Tommy Bolin (one of rock's great sad stories).

Jon Lord is doing his own thing - has a CD coming out soon (if not already) with some other big names.

Rick Emmet (from Triumph) said Steve Morse could take apart your musical brain, re-arrange it, then put it back together again. So he's no slouch either!

Glad you caught a show and liked them. Was Thin Lizzy with them too? Not sure if John Sykes is with them this time, but he's cool too.....

Thin Lizzy opened, but I'm not real familiar with them so I couldn't tell you who was original members and who wasn't.
We were very close for Satch, about 15 ft away, my wife was not interested in guitar playing so she left with a our 2 tickets and gave them to some friends of ours that were there that play guitar so they could come up close. Their eyes didn't leave Joe's fret board the whole time :) Joe can really show you how slow other guitar players are.

Did I read this correctly-Thin Lizzy????? Without Phil Lynott?????
(I know he can't help it being dead) but that doesn't sound right either. Caught Deep Purple an the "perfect strangers" tour back in 86 with the original lineup and they were great. Seen Steve Morse many times and he is just unbelievable."Surfing with the Alien" ranks on my top ten must have albums as well. Satch is also incredible live, saw G3 on tour as well with Eric Johnson anstead of Kenny Wayne-holy cow!!!!

Yeah, the Thin Lizzy thing was strange, especially when you consider that John Sykes fronted the band and sang for certain tours and Gorham/Robertson did other tours from what I recall. No clue who sang when Sykes wasn't there...

I didn't feel that Eric Johnson fit in with G3, nor did Kenny Wayne. Petrucci was an interesting choice for G3 that time. I think Yngwie was a great choice...

Always with me, Always with you, by Joe Satriani. Still one of my favorite songs....
