Hi, I don't understand what is a stock 200-4R calibration?
Also does a stock 200-4R has a shift kit already install and if not what is the purpose for having a shift kit? Thanks

In turbo regals the way they are calibrated from the factory the trans shifts are very nice firm shifts. Now other non brf transmissions the shifts may be softer smoother shifts, more for comfort and not performance.A shift kits main purpose is to firm the shifts up.

So in my first question a stock BRF 200-4R tranny has a shift kit already installed?
Secondly, a shift recalibration kit is like doing an readjustment to the TV cable to bring it to the "GM recommended" setting?
I'm just trying to understand a stock BRF 200-4R tranny setting operation.

no shift kit installed from the factory. The factory took the time to figure out how to make the trans shift firmer and at what rpm to shift at.A shift kit is nothing more than drilling holes in the seperator plate bigger ,and changing some springs to make a firmer shift.Every shift kit does this in different ways. Now changing the tv cable setting will make it shift harder, but will also make it shift later,if you back it down it will shift softer and sooner.Thats why you dont go and crank up the tv cable to aid a poor shifting unit to shift better, thats where a shift kit comes in.You retain your shift timing but firm up the shifts. You just pull the tv cable back mash the throttle at its set,a few clicks you may get away with forward or back but any more and your just trying to mask a problem.

Hi and thanks for the fast response.
At lease now I understand some thing about this tranny.
