what is the difference between the turbos we use and the turbos used on turbo deseils? why does no one ever use deseil turbos on our cars?

I'm thinking about a holset HY-35W for my own setup. Some probs are the flanges, and that the A/R of a lot of Diesel turbos tend to be in the low 1.X areas, most people use about a .86 AR or less. The turbo mentioned above is off of a Cummins turbo diesel, I've had a guy with a Syclone say he expected about 400-450 RWHP out of it. Then again he also had an extra 31 cubes to play with. I'm tempted to use it, but I wouldn't be surprised if I need a *lot* of stall. The HY-35W mentioned above usually sells for about $300 for a low milage pull, has an internal wastgate with a HUGE puck and these like high pressure ratios by design. The powerstroke tubos are another turbo, but I wouldn't even think about one unless you're doing an all out drag car and probably only then with a 4.1L. You're talking about an 8X mm wheel and a 1.1X AR. It also has an internal gate. I wouldn't use either without the aid of head work, camming, stall and a good down pipe/output exhaust.

So they are just too big for the average turbo regalist, but if you were to use a big block or something you would have a pretty good turbo on your hands? I once heard that deseil turbos basically run out of gas early and that why they arent used for racing...I didnt really understand how that could be, but I guess it's not true.
thanks,
wesley

remember the operating range of a dezzel.... not much more than 4000rpm give or take, and my 7.3 powerstroke rarely see's that

i remember reading somewhere that the turbo off an old powerstroke was the same as a te-60, only a slightly bigger hot side, and 4 bolt. I'd really like to try to get ahold of one, i'm sure the money would be reasonable at a junk yard, and if i could find the powerstroke intercooler at the same time, that would work out pretty good.

i'm thinking you would need a lot of head work and stall to make it work.
