Does the detent cable determine at what rpm the trans. shifts??

I took my car out yesterday and the shift points for some reason are too high!!

I had it rebuilt about a year ago and the builder says there is nothing wrong with it. Its shifting about 5300 rpm. It used to shift around 4800-4900.

Just wonderin if I try to adjust the cable if it will bring my shift points back down..

Detent cable?

I am assuming 2004R..... it is a TV cable... short for throttle valve. It will effect shift points and shift quality...... but if it is not adjusted properly... shifts will be too early... and mushy.....

Push the adjuster tab in and slide housing back toward the firewall....then turn loose of the adjuster tab.... then slowly rotate (by hand) the throttle to WOT... it will click itself out a few clicks when you do this.... then it is adjusted correctly.... get back in your car... crank it up... and go for a spin.

If you are still haveing problems.... you might have something malfunctioning on the govenor.... you will have to drop the pan to check it.....
