DFI timing

Thanks to RogueVette my car idles nice now, but my latest problem is that when in the timing map it shows 20 degrees but verifying it with a timing light it is more like 50 degrees on the balancer, in the stock ECM we have a crank reference angle to adjust but how do you set or corect this with a dfi.

Assuming you have a Buick V6 with the factory waste spark ignition, you will see a timing error of a factor of 2 when using an adjustable timing light. The error stems from the timing light seeing twice as many sparks as it should for 720 degrees of crank rotation. The rest of the error is probably the 4-5 degrees of error normally present because of the DFI ECU's fixed 6 degree crank reference angle and the 10 degree true reference on the crank.
