Are the GNs the only car that had painted bumpers from the factory?

My 86 T has them. [Has the option listed on the SPID label.]

When ordering my Blue 87 T new with the Blk out trim package, I did ever thing known to man to try & order it to come with black bumpers but could not make it happen. Ended up having the dealership order & installed black GN/WE4 bumpers through their parts dept prior to me picking the car up. The bumpers were delivered weeks before the car was.

Chuck, dont see AIRC on the plate in the trunk, or any 4 letter code. Just curious if it was a painted chrome bumper. Have bad luck with chipping painted chrome bumpers. Did find out the car has aluminum bumper braces (not brackets). Bonus. Was there a code for the aluminum bumpers?

Scott. So you tried to order BLACK bumpers for a BLUE car? Got any pics?

Yes it couldn't be done in 87 or the dealership I was working with couldn't make it happen. Take a look through a 1987 sales brochure and you'll see exactly the options and packages that could be ordered. I bought front & rear GN bumpers through the parts dept at around $500. Sadly I wreck the car at just a touch over 7k miles and owning it around 7 months and insurance company totaled the car out. Granted I was a 19 year old kid back then. I took ownership of the GN in my sig in late fall of 1987.

Some of the options on my dark blue car was, manual seats, power windows & locks, radio delete, power antenna, power moon roof, black out package, posi rearend, rear window defrost, etc. I can remember looking at the brochure for days trying to make up my mind as to what I wanted. Seems like it sticker for $17,800 The GN was a little over $1100 more at 18,900. I was so disappointed with the GN when I got it after special ordering the Turbo T and having to wait months for it to come in. The GN grew on me through out the years but never replaced my Dark Blue, moon roof T.

Btw....my parents did NOT buy the car, I was working full time to pay for my dream car or should say my dream engine because that is why I bought one in the 1st place......"The Corvette Killer"

I just found my old 87 buick brochure. Need to thumb through it.
