Trying to identify which ones are the forged slugs and which ones are the cast ones. I believe the 2471F are cast... but just want to make sure.

Here is my understanding:
2471F cast TRW pistons

2481F forged TRW pistons

Can someone confirm?

Both pistons are forged. The 2471# is listed for non turbo usage. The 2481# is for a turbo. The pistons appear to be almost the same accept the 2471's are 45 grams lighter and the pins are much lighter. Hope this helps, Jeff

thank you turbocamino..... I new the 2481's were forged... :) Had to get confirmation.

Anyone else to double confirm?

I can't say that this info is correct, but its coming from the 1989 TRW Performance Components Catalog:
L2471F: 1979-83 Non Turbo (even fire) Forged stock type w/pressed pin and 24.1cc cup(.231 deep) weight 513 grams, pin weight 162 grams
L2481F: 1979-83 Turbocharged Forged stock type w/pressed pin and 24.48cc cup(.245 deep) weight 558 grams, pin weight 215 grams

The catalog only listed parts for any car up to 1983. Maybee it was some EPA law or something that these parts couldn't be advertised for a car newer than 1983. Anyway, it looks like the pistons are very similiar accept that the L2481 might be beefed up for turbo use. What's up? Do you have a set of L2471's to put in a turbo motor?

I have both in std size..... trying to figure out what they were....

Thanks again TurboCamino!
