What in simple terms are the capability differences between "classic fast" and XFI?

Well quite a few things.

Logging of 24 sensors vs 14
MPH VSS input, shaft speed input
8 analog inputs 0-5v for data logging,
4 outputs to control items based on tps, mph, coolant temp. 4 stage Power adder input, which you can subtract or add fuel based on things like nitrous turning on, or trans brake use.etc.
2 step rev limiting,
EGR control, Boost control, AC clutch control, Lockup control.
Closed loop a.f ratio offset based on coolant temperature.
Greater resolution of the AF table.
Self learning VE table.
Knock control on all boxes, and individual cylinder retard and fuel trim standard.
Different wideband sensors can be used, different fuel settings for different fuels. No calibration file is needed when buying a new sensor.
Firmware can be updated by a flash file.
Boxes can be used for all types of ignition without sending the box back to fast.
Injector voltage offset table.
Spark vs coolant temp table.
Spark vs air temperature table.
CAN bus network which allows you to run the fast dash for no laptop required extra $800 or so.
Internal datalogging and traction control available at extra cost.
Edit able X-Y axis for scaling your rpm /boost points on your tables.
Sensor calibration and Auto TPS calibration option
Sensor fault codes SES light output
Fixed timing mode for checking your timing.

Classic Fast vs XFI

Thank you very much for your definitions.I was considerring a classic over an XFI but not now.

No problem. Now don;t get to excited with the self learning, You must dial in your own cranking fuel and afterstart enrichment, and have good program to start with.

Forgot the variable transbrake pulsed output.

I just found out the cpu processor is 4 times as fast in the XFI compared to the classic fast, another reason to upgrade.
