Has anyone looked at the Direct hits plugs. They screw on to a non conductive plug. A guy at my local hot rod store demo'd them for my and there was quite abit of a difference. The direct hits had an unbeleivable spark over the standard plug.

Ignition is a compromise of voltage and amperage. You can trade one for the other.

While a big Blue Spark might look good, it might not work worth a Tinker's Damn, in a combustion chamber.

If you want to look at what works, look at what the oems are using. Coil Near Plug set ups. For GM to spend the millions they did to go to that system, it must be worth while. If you want something that good, then investigate the eDIST. But, serious ignitions cost serious money. There are no short cuts.

I used them a little while. They work pretty good actually.I don't think there was a hp improvement, but it sure ran nice. They became a pain after a little while when it came to checking plugs. You have to remove the wire then the direct hit then the plug.It gets kind of stupid.I would leave them to the ricers.I'll sell you my set for $25 if you want to try them cheap. They cost around $200 new.

Unfortunately, open air spark demo's like that will pull in a lot of unsuspecting folks, looking to part with more money....
As bruce said, it has little to nothing to do with what actually happens in a combustion chamber, let alone one under full boost of 15psi or so, where the effective compression ratio is upwards of 20:1
