Since i dont know what is happening to my car when wot it sort of losses power then gains it back losses power then it gains it back it's like pulling back, so ive decided now that i really need a scan tool. wich one would give me all the info and is the direct scan easy to work wit.? i do have a lap top and i only drive car car if even in the weekends and on the track. wich one would be best and who gives the best prices. i do have a lap top for the direc scan. thanx in advance

Not to try and persway you away from your two choices you made ....

I love my Turbo-Link... Works great easy to hook up unlike Direct scan where you have to keep the ECM connection cleaned off.

Turbo Link and Scanmaster both hook to the aldl port so using it while racing or playing is easy and quick.

A buddy of mine down here has a direct scan and is thinking of getting rid of it for a Turbo-link set up so He might make you a deal on it...But I still would rather have the Turbo-Link.

Well im positive that both tools r good but if turbo link is a bit better ill go for it. were can i get it for a good price hopefully ill order it today. thanx

Here is a quick pro vs con

Directscan Pro-- Faster data read con..connects directly to the ecm <----- To me a very big con

TurboLink----- Pro---- Complet info including the use of a boost harness and connects to the aldl port also runs on either dos or win9x-winxp. Sevice!

Con---- I can't think of any except for how fast data is transferred.

This link will show you a comparison. also you can order from there. I use 3.0.2 and would not trade it for anything.

And no, I do not work or sell Turbo-link..Just happy I bought one.

I would get the SM first the only thing I don't like about DS is the connection but most never had a problem. SM is cheaper no laptop required like the others and if you don't race that much SM is the way to go but I will sell you my DS for cheaper than new DS,SM or TL:D

Hey you suppose to be going in the field...You didn't suppose to see this thread yet... Good luck Dan and give me a call when you get back.

Look at it this way.

Data is what you need. Direct scan will give you 18 fps and the ability to look back in time. On a 12 sec car, you'll see 1216 points. The hookup is to the ECM, but everything can be routed so you don't see too much wiring.

With Turbolink, the data given back is less than 1fps, so if there's an intermittant sputter or rough spot, you may not catch it.
On an 12 sec car, you'll see 12 points at the track.

yea you have a point on the fps.....

But I tune my car from road test and monitor at the track..If the car is not right befor you get there it isn't gonna happen in 12 seconds. Also the connection to the ECM sux. Having to make sure every leed is clean for the connection. You get allot of fps but what good is it for only a 1 minute 44 second max record time and no boost sensing hardware? What about the hot air guys?

And the dang thing runs out of DOS. I can't go backwards once I have gone forward.

I see Turbo-Link as the best all around Tuning tool you can get...

If you plan on burning your own chip buy the Direct Scan it can help if not...Turbo_link or a ScanMaster.
