May be premature, but I just got a direct scan and had a question before I install. I was reading in the maunal about the 14 seconds before trigger. What does this mean? I'm used to using my OTC and my "system" is to set up record mode and it does it's - countdown while I'm in staging. I do my burnout and then hit record as I'm pulling in to stage.

Can I do the same with DS or will I have to change my practices.

Thanks

you can do the same or you can set directscan to start recording with whatever you set your tps voltge to trigger it at. pretty sure anyway.:D

You can trigger DS to start recording with a key punch on the laptop, or to trigger from another source, most typically TPS (at whatever level you choose). I prefer to start it with the space key. I do this just as I hit the pre stage beam.

I think the 14 second thing you read about is the internal buffer in DS.

You'll notice that when you start making recordings, the data can actually be viewed way before you even trigger the capture.

This is especially helpful when trying to capture a pesky random event that never seems to occur when you want it too.

So even if the event was fast and you seamingly missed it, just start the recording anyway. When you veiw the data, just view back from time zero to see the event you thought you missed.

Great feature!! It's what I needed to find a ramdomly dropping tps signal.
