Directscan laptop compatibility

Can Directscan be used with a newer laptop that doesn't have a serial port? It's getting hard to find a working laptop that even has a serial port anymore. My old one I was using is in the repair shop and It might be cheaper just to junk it and sell my DS setup and get power logger and use a newer computer. Just trying to decide which way to go.

Junk it, go with the powerlogger. You have to have the serial port plus dos to run it....

DS doesn't use a serial port. It uses the parallel port..... and you must run Win98 or earlier to run it........
