Disassembled and measured BQ valve body

OK guys,
I'm comparing different VB's.

first this BQ3,
then a BRF,
then a generic Olds VB.

The BQ3 is done.

However it appear to have a Transgo tag in the TV plunger for a SK.
Anybody have the directions for the TransGo SK, not the reprogrammink kit but the little SK kit.
I'm wondering what changes were made to this VB.

i.e. what springs aren't original.


OK,
I plan to do the generic next.

Any other sick demented trans guys done this?

address and i'll get a copy out to you. The sk kit isn't a bad kit at all once it is modified. I've got a stock brf body mapped out for spring colors and heights too{had nothing better to on a sunday}.

Also if you would send your spring measurements too....

I measured all the spool valve land diameters, spring colors, free height, compressed height, wire diameter, spring diamter and coil count.


I may try to do the generic tonight...

Yep,
They're different

More differences than I expected.

looks like alot of the VB is machined different for a BQ vs a generic model.

So no changing springs will get it just right.

How in the hell do they machine the bores in a VB anyway, with different size lands.

Would be a PITA.

Lots of parts are the same, but the important ones aren't

Well,
I have good notes on the differences and similarities might have to do some testing and see if I can make a generic one work OK for a hot rod anyway.

Where do you get springs from?
for tuning a VB, other than robbing other VB's.
So if I wanted to order a stiffer, longer, etc.. spring for a specific valve who do I order from and what measurements would they need. overall length, diameter, compressed length? Desired spring rate?

By the way,
The VB I did today was a BY code 83or 84 Bucik 4.1 V6.
Is this a terrible VB or OK,
workable in a non Turbo small block cruiser?
