I gotta break in my new Yank converter which means no WOT for 150 miles...I don't think I can do it!! Hell, I don't think I've ever done 2 miles without at least a little blurp of WOT.

Thinking about disconnecting my wastegate from the turbo at the puck arm. Any downside for doing that for 150 miles??

Thanks, Bob

Bob, That's a new one to me. I've never heard of breaking in a converter. Well anyway, I've disconnected the wastsegate accuator arm when breaking in my tranny (50 mi.) for the same reason. I just love the spool up too much! Brian

Bob, show a little self restraint. :D Jump out on I-65, set the cruise on 70 and go for an hour, then come back. Unhooking the WG could impare you from being able to react to a situation where you CAN'T get out of the way if you wanted to; car will barely run and will have a huge stumble over 1/4 throttle. Stop by and visit me in Greenwood; I'm about 45 minutes from you I'm sure.

Breaking in a converter???? Learn something new everyday ;)

It would make a lot of sense if it was a lock up converter. If the clutch isn't fully seated and it were to lockup in a high hp situation, there is a greater chance the linings could get glazed.

That is just theory, however. If nothing was forcing lockup at WOT, I wouldn't worry too much about this happening, though.

One thing I have noticed when unhooking the WG and driving around is the trans presure does not match the power level of the of the engine and it bangs very hard on the shifts ,not good on the trans .Someone wanted to race me if i unhooked the WG, so I did and dusted him anyway (ha ha) , but the trans banged very hard and i didnt like it , just try to control your right foot.
