What kind of filter is used in the Mr. Clean Auto-dry system? I was thinking of getting some kind of generic inline water filter and hooking it up to my hose, so I am using filtered water to reduce water spots. I don't really want to mess around buying filter refills and special soap all the time.

Has anyone tried this? Thoughts or helpful ideas?

Thanks for anything.

We tried at lot

We tried at the car lot works ok, but not as good as they crack up to be. Maybe for a quick rinse be alright, nothing replaces a little elbow grease though.

Got one for the wife before I left for Iraq. Traded my Tahoe and her Jetta in on a Volvo V70. Wanted a very safe car for her and the kids while I was gone and I wanted her to keep it clean.

It works well for applying the soap. Still have to use some elbow grease to get it really clean. The rinse and no dry work great. My wife uses it and is very happy with the results. No water marks. I would recommend it and I think even Consumer reports or one of those type magazines gave it a thumbs up.

I wonder if it would work if I used my normal car wash soap and just used the filter system for rinsing?
