Do we really need this many Bowl games in football?

This whole concept of 30+ bowl games is rediculous. I can't remember which bowl is which these days. Is the Rose bowl still reserved for the two top teams or has that changed?

I dont watch football any longer these days but there just seems to be way too many bowl games and have lost track of which bowl means what.

Exactly. They can make it into a bracket style playoff and still keep all these ridiculous bowls if they wanted too. I bet people would pay more attention if it was an actual playoff. The way it is now though, who cares who wins the eharmony/pepsi max bowl.
