How many of you look at the labels before you buy:confused:I do and was in for a pleasant surprise on my holiday to California.New Balance running shoes use to be made here in Canada and left to go to China:mad:Well I noticed that many of their models were made in the US now:biggrin: Let;s hear of some other products;)

We look, but sometimes it's just impossible to find USA made anymore, esp with the Feds pushing chink junk down our throats.

Some items are just not made here. Almost all consumer electronics are made in the pacific rim. :frown:

I am getting to the point of saying to fix our problems here in America, and after reading about the Walmart supertankers we need to shut down our ports to all incoming merchandice.

Ya it would suck for a bit, but if you give a notice when you will do this, we would be forced to have start manufacturing things again. And guess what good paying jobs would be back and Americia would be strong again. It sucks that we can't even make cell phones in this country anymore.

It is extremely difficult to stick to American made. I try often, flip stuff over and see where it is made, etc and try to see if the one next to it (if American made will be about 10% more usually...) but most times it is hard to find, depending on what you are looking for.

I did find a killer radiator for my car, made not only in the USA, but here in CA, and by a guy who owns a GN! Good enough reason for me! Here is my ramblings on it:

I know my wife gets toys for the kids from sites that ONLY sell American made. Pay more..but what the heck. I'm in the USN to defend the country..might as well spend a bit more cast to defend us economically as well! It's only money.

I usually dont look at the labels before I buy because I figure the bigger percentage of man made goods come from China or Mexico.

It is a running joke at Christmas for our grand daughter last few years she is geared to look for that made in china label. When it comes to toys you'd really have to look to avoid China as the country of production.

We get new Camaro parts made and part of what we deal with is the GM brand new SS and RS grille emblems. Label on them reads south Korea. Look at some of your Buick parts marker lites example at least one version says made in china.

As other stated sneakers various countries around the world including VIetnam where like some of you I spent some time in the 1960s.

They just did a thing on this very issue on TV news that the one museum in DC the souvenirs even the American Flag label pins were made in China.

The 100th anniversary GM clock we used to sell honoring GM....you would think that someone in control would insist it was made in the USA. No such luck again Made in China.

Take China out of the mix and your super size Walmarts would virtually be empty stores.

I can truthfully say being in the reproduction business for 30 years everything we have had made that we can control has been made in the USA. I even push that fact to the companies we supply in the Corvette/Mustang market.

Thas my point right there. The stores would only be empty for as long as we would start making products in this country again and bring back American jobs.

In my industry I know the majority of it is made in the USA

Cub Cadet who is owned by MTD is American owned and "mostly" made here. They have several plants in TN and OH. A lot of their hand held stuff is imported though.

Stihl has a massive plant in Virginia Beach. Some of the LARGEst stuff is made in Germany but most of the homeowner and commercial equipment is built here.

Kohler engines are built in WI except for the 7HP and smaller engines which are Chinese.

Grasshopper Mower, Hustler Turf equipment, and Dixon's are all made in Kansas.

Briggs and Stratton does have plants over seas but the majority of riding mower engines we use here in the USA are made here in the USA. They have plants all over the country and the world.

Snapper and Simplicity mower are built in GA.

China!!!!

I opened a service champ box [an air filter ] the box says made in the usa but air filter inside says made in china i called service champ and asked when this took place they told me at the first of this year they made the switch to overseas production but the box is still made in the usa .. I told them i would be going to a us made product they said good luck in that venture . So sometimes even the labels are misleading

My son was complaining that his Army uniform is made in China !!

I truly believe in order to fix our economy we have to:rolleyes:
1)Bring all our troops home
2)Tighten the security within our OWN borders
3)Increase the requirements for immagrants
4) Make more products in our own country

Please feel free to add or delete to my list:eek:

If that is indeed true that is terrible....especially since in many cases China quality is not the best....they can't even provide safe milk for their kids to drink....

To think in Congress they are upset that the soveniors at the local museum are made in China the small flag pins.

I was a pall bearer at a funeral last year and noticed and then peeled a gold "made in China" decal off the casket as we carried it to the hearse. I don't see why we can't put a tax on all non North American imports and then use that money to lower taxes for businesses here to encourage North American job growth.

On the flip side of the Made in China issues...

The Regal had better sales in China last year than the US and in some circles it is said China saved Buick from going bye bye like Pontiac did.

In my youth it was Made in Japan ...metal toys etc...
